Best Anti Inflammatory Foods 2026: How to Choose

Image
Food is medicine. Meaning that what you put in your body can affect you just like popping a pill can. Chronic inflammation is the low-level inflammation in your body that causes everything from heart disease to cancer to Alzheimer’s to arthritis. Hence, reducing that inflammation is a good thing for your health. Inflammation can be triggered by inflammatory foods, which are foods that contain elements your body perceives as foreign or threatening. You can avoid inflammatory foods and add more anti-inflammatory foods to your diet to help lower your risk of inflammation. Anti-Inflammatory Diet Researchers have identified certain foods that can help control inflammation. Many of them are found in the so-called Mediterranean diet, which emphasizes fish, vegetables and olive oil, among other staples. There’s a standardized research tool that’s updated regularly that allows anybody to see if they’re eating foods we know cause chronic inflammation. This is called the The Dietary Inflammatory...

Determinants of Human Longevity: Evidence-Based Lifestyle and Metabolic Interventions (2026)

Image
Abstract Longevity is influenced by a combination of genetic, behavioral, and environmental factors. This review synthesizes evidence on modifiable determinants of lifespan, emphasizing metabolic health, physical fitness, sleep, psychosocial factors, and behavioral interventions. Epidemiologic and interventional studies indicate that preserving muscle mass, maintaining cardiorespiratory fitness, optimizing metabolic markers, and sustaining social connectedness confer substantial reductions in all-cause mortality. Practical strategies, including resistance training, moderate-intensity aerobic activity, caloric moderation, sleep hygiene, and stress management, are highlighted as high-impact, evidence-supported interventions to extend healthspan. Keywords: longevity, insulin resistance, metabolic health, muscle mass, cardiorespiratory fitness, sleep,  stress management, healthspan 1. Introduction Human longevity is determined by complex interactions between genetics and lifestyle. Wh...

Study Show Coffee May Help Stop Cancer Progression

Image
In a large group of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer, consumption of a few cups of coffee a day was associated with longer survival and a lower risk of the cancer worsening, researchers at Harvard-affiliated Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and other organizations report in a new study. The findings, based on data from a large observational study nested in a clinical trial, are in line with earlier studies showing a connection between regular coffee consumption and improved outcomes in patients with non-metastatic colorectal cancer. The study is being published today by  JAMA Oncology . The investigators found that in 1,171 patients treated for metastatic colorectal cancer, those who reported drinking two to three cups of coffee a day were likely to live longer overall, and had a longer time before their disease worsened, than those who didn’t drink coffee. Participants who drank larger amounts of coffee — more than four cups a day — had an even greater benefit in these measu...

Hydrogen Water Malaysia 2024 - Hype or Hope?

Image
Molecular hydrogen is a gas with very unique and selective antioxidant effects (1). Molecular Hydrogen 101 Molecular hydrogen refers to diatomic hydrogen or H2 gas — two hydrogen atoms combined together. Hydrogen is the smallest molecule in the universe, and is neutral and non-polar, which is why its bioavailability is so great. It does not dissociate into its electrons and protons when dissolved in water, so it will not alter the pH of water or your body and has nothing to do with the alkaline water concept. Tyler W. LeBaron is an expert on molecular hydrogen, who has done research at Nagoya University in Japan, where most of his research started. "It's just hydrogen gas. It's three times more energy-dense than gasoline. That's why it's being looked at as an alternative energy source or fuel," LeBaron says. "It's what powers the sun and fusion in producing helium. This is the hydrogen we're talking about and we're seeing it can also...

Vitamins and Minerals 101: What You Need to Know 2023

Image
Diets are composed of nutrients: macronutrients (protein, fats, carbohydrates, and alcohol) and the micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, trace elements and phytonutrients). Food also contains many non-nutritional, but biologically active substances. These include toxins and contaminants, such as alkaloids and aflatoxins, which are detrimental to health, as well as constituents, such as phytochemicals, that may be health-promoting. As consumers we do not eat nutrients, but meals and foods. These are the components of diet that are most meaningful to the public and usually the basis of food choice. The micronutrients are by definition required in small amounts. Many are essential as they cannot be made in the human body. They include vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Vitamins are a group of organic compounds that have a variety of functions in the body and that are chemically different from each other. To show that a compound is a vitamin it is necessary to show a deficiency in exper...
