390 dengue cases and 2 dengue deaths in a week

Nov 2, 2012 - Bernama PUTRAJAYA: A public servant in Sabah and a farmer in Sarawak were the two dengue fatalities reported during the week between Oct 21 and 27, said Health Director-General Datuk Seri Dr Hasan Abdul Rahman yesterday. He said the government employee, in his 30s, had earlier sought treatment at a private clinic and was admitted to a government hospital the following day when his condition worsened, but succumbed to the disease the same day. The public servant died due to severe dengue with multi-organ failure, he said in a statement issued here yesterday. As for the farmer, a woman, Dr Hasan said, she died two days after being admitted to a government hospital due to haemorrhagic dengue. He said the two deaths occurred in a non-epidemic areas, but checks conducted by the health authorities found the aedes breeding rate in the affected areas to be high, at 2.3 per cent.
