Best Home Exercise Equipment Reddit
1. Gym Vs. Home
Reddit 2014 ... Why people choose the gym over their own home for free weight work outs? ...
a. @mpfmb
Gym:
Access to all the equipment
Can't fit the gear at home (apartment/unit)
Socialize
Access to trainers/others for form check/spotting
Try new things without the added expense
etc
Home:
Train any time within seconds
No travel time
Your equipment
No problematic people to deal with
etc

... A homegym really was the way to go for me, although I do miss the community aspect of a public gym. So my advice is don't pull the trigger on a homegym unless you have friends that will occasional come over and lift with you.
I have both - bought enough free weights and low end gear to get a decent workout in on the days I can't make it to the gym. My company provides a free gym that is better equipped than most commercial gyms so the finances aren't really the question.
My goal is: I must workout 5 days/week, how can I be certain to make that happen?
2. Best Home Exercise Equipment
Reddit 2014 - What machines/accessories are worth investing for a home-gym?
a. @Mursing101
- Dumbbells with interchangeable weight, an height adjustable bench for different positions
- A pull up / dip rack.
The total was about 800$, all used equipment.
I love it cause I can workout in the morning before work and after work without worrying about having to get to the gym, especially when it's unbearably hot in the summer.
b. @whatdoyoumeanabagofd
- Power rack
- Bench
- Barbell and plates.
Aside from that a plate loaded kettlebell (if you like swings,) and a adjustable height cable pull can be used for pretty much any accessory work you might need.
c. @atomicdustbin
You can do a lot with very little...and maximize your space in the process.
- Squat rack (free...not Smith)
- Adjustable dumbbells (e.g. Powerblock)
- TRX straps
- Swiss Ball
- Cable station
- Adjustable bence w/ wheels
I'd start there.
Mats and mirrors would also be good to invest in. Kettlebells, a punching bag, and a battle rope might be worth looking into as well.
Reddit 2019 - Elliptical or Treadmill
a. @kaleandbeans
They are both really great forms of cardio.
I personally prefer the elliptical because the treadmill causes too much stress on my knees.
b. @B_easy85
Elliptical is easier on the knees... treadmills have been shown to burn more calories in the same amount of time.
c. @_rightClick_
The one you like to do will be the one you're more likely to keep doing and will as a result have a longer lasting impact on your workout and health.
Also, there's nothing wrong with mixing it up a little. It helps to remind you which one you like better.
Reddit 2021 - Barbell Vs Dumbbells Vs Kettlebells for Home Gym
a. @incruente
Bodyweight, done carefully, is the cheapest and most portable method. But it's limited.
Resistance bands are cheap, compact, and portable, but not as versatile as actual weights.
Kettlebells are very effective, but tend not to be very adjustable.
Personally, I prefer a set of adjustable dumbbells. You can get them for cheap on craigslist, they're adjustable and versatile, and you can always fall back on bodyweight for a while if you're doing something like travelling. If you're only concerned with doing enough to stay fit, I'd go bodyweight. If you want to go farther, dumbbells.
b. @dssx
Depends on your space, floor strength, and budget. If you can afford it all three categories, I’d go with a half-rack, barbell, and oly plates.
If not, grabbing a few kettlebells and adding in bodyweight training can get you great results too.

It's crucial to remember that each person's requirements for exercise can differ depending on their age, health, level of fitness, and specific goals. See a healthcare provider or a trained fitness expert for specific suggestions, particularly if you have any pre-existing medical conditions or concerns.
