1. Is Fish Oil Worth Taking?
November 2022 - Reddit Thread
Been looking through studies and it seems split whether or not fish oil supplements are worth taking. I know I should just eat more seafood but I'm curious for those who don't want to take that route. Also wondering if in these studies they use legitimate brands or the first product they see.

Omega 3 and Vitamin D are the best documented supplements. Almost everyone should be taking it. However Omega 3 can be expensive though if you want decent dose of EPA and DHA. I recommend o
mega 3 in liquid form from small bottles which you put in the fridge after using to prevent fatty acids from oxidizing.
b. HeartHypertrophy
Yeah just don’t use the shitty fish oil that has proprietary blends with cock-slap amounts of epa and dha in them. Thorne super epa is good. Expensive but worth it

Omegas hace a strong correlation to healthy cholesterol. So unless you eat fresh caught seafood on the reg, fish oil is worth it for everyone for that alone. Possible cognitive benefits, are just bonus. Have with food, and try different brands, if you get any fish burps.

I take fish oil because I don’t really eat that much seafood, mostly just chicken for my choice of meat tbh
2. If you haven’t already try Omega-3 supplements!! - Omega 3 Supplement for Skin
June 2023 - Reddit Thread
I saw a post here at some point that talked about omega 3 helping… didn’t think much of it but i started taking it just to see and there really is a big difference. I stopped taking it again because i assumed it was a fluke and my eczema was so so much worse within a week of not taking it. For reference I have moderate eczema that affects basically my whole body. I’ve been taking Jamieson brand 1000 mg Omega-3 Softgels (Fish oil). Either 2 or 4 a day - i think the higher dose works better but I rarely remember to take it in the morning and 2 helps too. 2 is the recommended dose.
Just thought i’d make a post to spread the word a bit in case there’s some people here who haven’t tried it yet! Not saying it will work for you, but i hope it will!!

3. Has anybody with any mental health problem started taking fish oil (Omega 3) and started to feel better? - Omega 3 Supplement for Mental Health
I have been diagnosed with moderate General anxiety disorder and depression in the past. And additionally, I was in the process of getting diagnosed for a personality disorder (but didnt follow through). But recently I started taking fish oil and I feel so much better??
It feels like my brain is finally functioning normally. The brain fog I always had is gone after 26 years. I feel like I have been awaken from a life long nap and i'm starting to be in touch with reality more. And I feel like I can conquer the world haha. Not even antidepressants or therapy have helped me like this. I want to know if I'm the only one. Have you or someone you know gone through a similar experience?
a. General-Rip6986
Yes it works. My favorite out of all the supplements.
b. courageous_chung0
As for my experience it works at all. A supplement that helps me from some things
c. Mental_Supermarket43
I’ve been on and off it over the years. Don’t think I’ve ever noticed that much of an improvement….certainly didn’t make things worse though.
4. What's the optimal daily dose of Omega 3 needed?
RDI for adult males is 1.6g but what amount is optimal for all the health benefits?
a. calleeze
Omega 3s are fragile molecules and shouldn’t be increased too high in patients without a clear clinical benefit. (For example an autoimmune patient seeking anti-inflammatory activity or someone trying to lower triglycerides). n the rest of us, the increased oxidative load created by taking excessive amounts of fragile lipid molecules may be doing more harm than good.
Ideal dosage as a general supplement 1000-1500 mg ensuring good quality and keeping refrigerated. With specific clinical goals 6 grams is fine but should be extremely cautious about brand and quality. Pop one in your mouth from time to time to ensure they are not going rancid.
b. ApathyWithToast
2000-2500mg
c. ihavethekavorka
I believe most heart or nutrition/fatty acid committees guidelines agree on a minimum of 0.5 grams of DHA + EPA per day for general health, some leaning a bit higher towards 0.75 grams or so.
