Best Krill Oil Supplements 2024

Omega-3 fatty acids play important roles in our health. Despite their widespread use, fish oil supplements may not be ideal for some people due to their huge capsule sizes and tolerability. Krill oil has recently come to light as a possible replacement for omega-3 supplements.

Moreover, some studies suggests Krill Oil (KO) can improve both absorption and delivery of DHA inside body better than Fish Oil (FO). Existing of antioxidant astaxanthin, mainly in esters form only exists in KO and not in FO is another possible reason which makes KOs more potent in bioactivities than FO. (Source)

Benefits of Krill Oil Supplement

a. Anti Inflammatory Properties
It has been shown that omega-3 fatty acids, such as those in krill oil, play a significant anti-inflammatory function in the body.

An animal study found that neptune krill oil (NKO) and fish oil (FO) can significantly decreased the expression of these pro-inflammatory cytokines. Interestingly, NKO could significantly reduce cytokines levels more than FO.

b. Alleviate Arthritis Symptoms
Krill oil may be a useful intervention strategy against the clinical and histopathological signs of inflammatory arthritis. A study found that consumption of krill oil and supplemented diet significantly reduced the arthritis scores and hind paw swelling when compared to a control diet not supplemented with EPA and DHA.

Another study indicates that Neptune Krill Oil (NKO) at a daily dose of 300 mg significantly inhibits inflammation and reduces arthritic symptoms within a short treatment period of 7 and 14 days.

c. Help Lower Cholesterol
Triglycerides and inflammation, which can be harmful to the health of your blood vessels, have been found to be reduced by EPA and DHA. A phospholipid found in krill oil is also present, and it can be absorbed by the body more easily than fish oil.

A daily intake of 1 to 3 grams of krill oil reduced total cholesterol and triglycerides more effectively than the same quantity of normal fish oil, according to research published in Pharmacy & Therapeutics. A daily intake of krill oil (1 and 3 grams) is considered a standard dose.

d. Lower the Risk of Heart Disease
Krill oil contains Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), types of omega-3 fatty acids that can decreased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD).

This cardioprotection from EPA+DHA appears to be the result of multiple vascular effects such as arrhythmia prevention and possible plaque stabilization, as well as reductions in numerous parameters including triglyceride concentrations, systemic blood pressure, heart rate, platelet aggregation, and inflammation. e. May Help Manage Premenstrual Symptoms
Omega-3 fatty acids may lessen PMS symptoms and period pain.
A study found that Neptune Krill Oil can significantly reduce dysmenorrhea and the emotional symptoms of premenstrual syndrome.

Krill Oil Recommended Daily Dosage

Similar to fish oil, the amount of DHA and EPA in krill oil determines the recommended dosage.

It is recommended to consume a combined daily intake of DHA and EPA between 250 and 500 milligrams (mg). However, some studies have revealed that certain people may require higher doses of DHA and EPA, up to 4 grams per day. Best to consult a doctor to determine the best dose for you.

Antarctic Krill Oil Supplement Reviews
I started taking krill oil when I read it recommended as a nootropic, because your brain likes fatty fish oil, apparently. I also read it being recommended for pain and improved flexibility by exercisers. As a middle-aged new convert to PIYO, I can use this help, I think.
So I ran out of MegaREDs three weeks ago, didn’t think it was a hurry to replace. Brother, by the end of the first week, I NOTICED the hip pain, knee pain, trouble sleeping etc. The band’s back together. I bought some cheaper stuff
and had to throw away (let’s just say I don’t like tuna and leave it at that).
Bottom line is stick with the MegaREDS, they don’t have the pong associated with other brands of fish oil.
Middle-aged exercisers should all take a MegaRED. Go ahead and spend the money.

Jocko Super Krill Oil Supplement Reviews
I recently switched to the Jocko Krill from JYM Fish Oil. I’m not going to say that there’s an incredible life changing difference, but I like the Krill better personally. I find that they agree with me more and I have a better time digesting them with no “fish burps.” Also, after a recent visit to the DR my blood work came back better after taking the Krill as opposed to when I was on Fish Oil. This is an honest review from someone who purchased the product.

Bronson Antarctic Krill Oil Supplement Reviews
I’ve been getting krill oil from Costco their brand and taking two of the 500mg daily. My order was late and having fibro I cannot be without it. So I found this one and got it next day. Wasn’t expecting a difference but there is one. Maybe it’s because this has antarctic krill in it? I dunno but it works better for me and I feel better with less inflammation. It’s a great value for the money and is easier taking one pill instead of two.
