Best Ubiquinol Supplement 2022

CoQ10, commonly referred to as coenzyme Q10, is one of the most well-liked dietary supplements for cardiovascular health. It has also been linked in studies to regulating blood sugar, boosting fertility, preventing cancer, and even reducing migraines.

As you age, your body produces less CoQ10. In addition, it has been discovered that statin users and patients with specific diseases, such type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), have lower amounts of CoQ10. Restoring CoQ10 levels in T2DM patients may reduce oxidative stress, protect mitochondrial function, and ultimately result in better glycemic control.

Ubiquinol May Be More Bioavailable Than Ubiquinone

Both ubiquinol and ubiquinone are forms of CoQ10(coenzyme Q10). Some studies showed that ubiquinol may be more bioavailable than ubiquinone. However, the study is still inconsistent.

A study aimed to compare the effectiveness between ubiquinone and ubiquinol to enhance the CoQ10 status in older men suggests that ubiquinol supplement are more effective than ubiquinone supplement.

Another study found no significant differences between ubiquinone capsules and ubiquinol capsules in the redox status of the absorbed CoQ10.

I like Solgar brand, I like the glass jars and I like taking Q10 so this is an all around plus. Ubiquinol is something I've been taking for several years after developing a constant state of tachycardia for no apparent reason. The medications prescribed by the cardiologist had horrid side effects yet the racing heart rate was interfering with my daily, I opted to try a few supplements instead. Heart rate went back into range - not immediately but absolutely back into range with an average of about 70 versus well over 100. Works well for me and will continue to take.

Great quality. A part of my healthy heart supplement regimen. Anyone taking a prescription or natural OTC statin to lower their bad cholesterol should also take a quality CoQ10 (in the form of Ubiquinol, not Ubiquinone if you're over age 30) because statins eliminate the CoQ10 produced by the body. Some doctors recommend this to their statin taking patients but most don't.

a. Who Should Avoid Taking CoQ10?

CoQ10 has possible interaction with anticoagulants. CoQ10 may reduce the effectiveness of blood-thinning medications like warfarin (Jantoven). This could increase the risk of a blood clot.

b. What Happens if Your Coq10 Levels Are Low?

A slight CoQ10 deficiency can result in muscle weakness and fatigue. Although CoQ10 deficiency is unlikely to occur in the general population, there is a higher risk in people with particular medical problems including cancer, diabetes, or genetic abnormalities.

Studies have also shown that a lack of coenzyme Q10 can make cells more vulnerable to harm from free radicals.

c. Ubiquinone Vs Ubiquinol

The main differences between ubiquinol and ubiquinone is that ubiquinol is the reduced form of CoQ10, whereas ubiquinone is the oxidized form. Therefore, ubiquinone has more electrons than the ubiquinol.

Ubiquinone = oxidized CoQ10 = yellow
Ubiquinol = reduced CoQ10 = white

In contrast to ubiquinone, which has a characteristic yellowish color, ubiquinol is essentially white. As soon as ubiquinol is exposed to oxygen, it transforms back into ubiquinone, which is its oxidized (and yellow) form.
